{"id":4903,"date":"2024-12-18T03:08:12","date_gmt":"2024-12-18T03:08:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/caacedu.org\/?p=4903"},"modified":"2024-12-18T03:08:12","modified_gmt":"2024-12-18T03:08:12","slug":"flying-shuttlecock-fun-show-2023-celebrated-christmas-and-happy-new-year-to-the-community","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/caacedu.org\/?p=4903","title":{"rendered":"\u201cFlying Shuttlecock Fun Show 2023\u201d &#8211; Celebrated Christmas, and Happy New Year to the Community!"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;Flying Shuttlecock Fun Show 2023&#8221; was organized by the Canadian Chinese Autism<br>Awareness Center (CAAC) and co-organized by the Canadian One Family Cultural<br>Center Canada One Family Network &#8211; Love health, love sports and promote<br>shuttlecock, Tai Chi, and fitness Traditional folk art and cultural activities such as<br>dancing, rope skipping and hula hoops were held from 12:00 to 2:00 pm on December<br>17th at New Kennedy Square, 8360 Kennedy Rd, Markham, New Kennedy Square,<br>Markham.<br>At 12:00 noon, the host Alice Cheung announced the start of the event. Helen Guan,<br>Director of the Chinese Autism Awareness Center (CAAC) made the first speech,<br>welcoming the community to participate in the \u201cFlying Shuttlecock Fun Show 2023\u201d-<br>Love Health, Love Sports event which was held by CAAC for the first time, hoping to<br>take this opportunity to promote the traditional folk art and cultural activities which are<br>benefit for the body and mind, such as shuttlecock kicking, Tai Chi, fitness dance, rope<br>skipping and hula hoops, also will bring joy to every family member during Canada&#8217;s<br>long and cold winter.<br>The first performance was Hong Kee Fitness Dance Club, performing energetic and<br>passionate fitness dance. The followed performance was by the writer Yan Daxia,<br>reciting Li Bai&#8217;s Journey, and Zhu Yanyan dancing with a sword to add to the fun. Ms.<br>Sun, Guoyan, the 12th generation successor of Chen Style Tai Chi and a sixth-level<br>Chinese Martial Arts, led Tai Chi students for Tai Chi. Next, a group of teenagers<br>participated in dazzling rope skipping performances. There was single, double and<br>group rope skipping. There was also a wonderful hula hoop performance by a beautiful<br>lady-Smile Ng.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The exciting shuttlecock kicking competition started after a live demonstration by Helen<br>Guan and York District Councilors Alan Ho. The youngest contestant was 10 years old.<br>After three rounds of intense competition, the champion, runner-up, third runner-up of<br>the adult group and the first place of the youth group were selected. They won the gold,<br>silver and bronze medals of the competition and prizes provided by Wukong Education<br>respectively. Councilor He issued commemorative certificates to each winner.<br>Commemorative certificates were also provided to children who participated in<br>shuttlecock kicking and Tai Chi training.<br>All participants received a Christmas and New Year gift, and Aspiration &amp; Discoveries<br>Special Therapy Centre provided a beautiful gift to each child who participated in<br>Christmas card painting. Chang Kee Trading Company provides lucky draw prizes to<br>the audience!<br>Finally, Councilor He issued certificates of appreciation to CAAC, various sponsoring<br>organizations, community partners and Community Health and Fitness Instructor Sun<br>Guoyan.<br>Helen thanked the sponsors: Wukong Education, Aspiration &amp; Discoveries, EPS Care<br>Technologies, and Sheung Kee Trading, and the community partners Canada One<br>Family Network, Smile Ng, and Hong Kei Fitness &amp; Dance Club for providing wonderful<br>performances.
